"It's easy to make a buck.
It's a lot tougher to make a difference."
—Tom Brokaw

I'm lucky to live in one of the greatest cities on Earth, but greatness is no accident. A city is only as good as its people. I work to make SF a great place for everyone and hopefully create opportunities for others along the way.

826 Valencia

Writing Tutor: 3rd, 4th, & 5th Grade

Every week, I tutor for 826 at my local elementary school, Buena Vista Horace Mann K-8. Of all the things I do, this is probably one of the most challenging, but also one of the most fulfilling. My trick to motivating the young writers? I draw for them. All day these kids are given work to do, so in exchange, I work for them. If they do their writing assignment, I will fulfill a drawing request. I've gotten really good at My Little Pony and Steph Curry.

Supermarket Street Sweep

Rider, Organizer

For 10 years, I've helped organize a food-drive bicycle race in San Francisco to benefit the SF & Marin Foodbank. Each year we get committed cyclists to bring in thousands of pounds of food and raise thousands of dollars. To date, we've brought in over 250,000 meals, all on bicycle. If you're a cyclist in the Bay Area, maybe I'll see you next year! Supermarket Street Sweep.

But wait there's more...

I also do design work for The Children's Creativity Museum, am on 826 Valencia's Volunteer Engagement Committee, and keep an annual budget for charitable giving. Interested in volunteering with 826 Valencia? Have a question? Want an introduction? Send me an email and let's make SF awesome jkoshi[at]

That's it. Still here?
